Members of the Kenya Healthcare Federation (KHF) CEO’s forum met with the Principal Secretary (PS) for Medical Services, Harry Kimtai, to discuss plans for the upcoming launch of Universal Health Coverage on Mashujaa Day. The PS emphasized the need for collaboration between the government and the private sector on implementing key pillars of UHC, including establishing primary care networks, training community health promoters, and developing a digital health information system. He further acknowledged that the public and private sectors can work together to successfully roll out UHC countrywide.
The CEOs raised concerns about pending NHIF payments to private facilities, which the PS committed to addressing.
