On 6th January 2022, KHF Leadership Team led by KHF CEO, Dr. Anastasia Nyalita and the KHF Director & Chair of Supply Chain Vinod Guptan, together with representatives from Local Pharmaceutical Manufacturers as well as Importers, held a consultative meeting with Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) to discuss the Business-related issues like pending bills owed to the Private Sector Suppliers by KEMSA, continuity of supplies, support by suppliers to ensure better fill rate, amongst others. We would like to appreciate KEMSA Acting CEO, Mr. John Kabuchi for hosting the KHF team and for the fruitful discussions.
Other KEMSA officials present were Dr. Josephat Mbuva, from MOH who is currently at KEMSA spearheading KEMSA reforms and supporting its Operations, Mr. Waiganjo Karanja; Director Finance and Strategy, Mr Edward Buluma, Ag. Procurement Director, Ms. Beatrice Kariuki; Legal Officer and Ms Christine Mwangi; Financial Accountant.
The team had fruitful discussions with KEMSA confirming that KEMSA have put a mechanism in place to ensure all pending payments are settled and the Private Sector also pledged support to KEMSA.
The KEMSA Team also appraised KHF on the ongoing critical reforms that are geared to better the performance addressing and find ways to solve the challenges that KEMSA has been facing.
KEMSA also agreed to having regular stakeholder engagements flagging it off with a Suppliers Conference that will be held within the first quarter of 2022.
