Advancing Climate-Smart Healthcare: KGHP Consultative Workshop

Kenya continues to take important steps toward building a greener and more sustainable healthcare system.

On 12–13 March 2026, stakeholders convened in Karen, Nairobi, for a consultative workshop on the Kenya Green Health Platform (KGHP), a collaborative initiative aimed at shaping the future of climate-smart healthcare in the country.

The workshop brought together a diverse group of participants, including representatives from government, development partners, civil society, the private sector, professional associations, academia, county governments, and bilateral partners. The session focused on co-designing a national platform to advance environmentally sustainable healthcare in Kenya.

Key outcomes from the discussions included:

  • Agreement to retain the name Kenya Green Health Platform (KGHP)
  • Alignment with the World Health Organization Green Healthcare Framework
  • Emphasis on practical actions, including capacity building, training, and knowledge exchange
  • Confirmation of the official launch held on 27 March 2026, alongside the Kenya Green Healthcare Guidelines

The workshop demonstrated strong institutional commitment and laid a solid foundation for coordinated action toward environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient healthcare systems in Kenya.
