Kenya Healthcare Federation hosted an inaugural event to mark the start of annual celebrations & recognition of Health Sector Professionals who have had outstanding contribution to the sector over the years. In this inaugural event, KHF in partnership with Surgipharm and Imperial Health Sciences celebrated Dr. Vijai Maini, the outgoing Managing Director of Surgipharm.
Opening remarks were given by KHF CEO, Dr. Anastasia Nyalita thanking all the Health Sector playing for coming to celebrate with us in the Heroes Celebration Event. Also present at the event giving their remarks during the Heroes Celebration Event included;
- KMA President, Dr. Were Onyino.
- KDA President, Dr. Tim Theuri.
- KAPI Chairperson, Dr. Winnie Ng’ang’a.
- PSK, Chairman of Standing Committee, Dr. Michael Mungoma.
- Senior Paediatrician Consultant, Dr. Mohan Lumba
- UON Lecturer, Dr. Dominic Karanja
Reiner Engelbretch, Executive Vice President Finance – Market Access Healthcare Imperial Logistics made a presentation stating, “In 2017, Dr. Vijai Maini led the deal that saw Surgipharm sell 70% of its shares to Imperial Holdings. The $35 million transaction accelerated the South African logistics group industry presence in Kenya as part of its African growth strategy.”
Dr. Vijai Maini, who is also one of the founding members of Kenya Association of Pharmaceutical Industry (KAPI) has been instrumental in the growth of the Pharmaceutical Industry both through his company Surgipharm and through his leadership and mentorship contributions at KAPI.
Under his leadership at Surgipharm Limited as Managing Director, Dr. Vijai Maini;
- Cemented Surgipharm’s leadership position in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Created access to critical medicines & equipment
KHF Chairperson, Dr. Kanyenje Gakombe gave his remarks on Dr. Vijai Maini’s contribution to the pharmaceutical industry. He stated, “It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.”
Surgipharm Managing Director, Bridget Wachira gave the final and closing remarks; and a vote of thanks to all Health Sector players including Trade and Professional Associations for coming to celebrate with us in the Heroes Celebration Event.
