KIICO 2026: Strengthening Kenya’s Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Agenda

On 26th March 2026, the Kenya Healthcare Federation (KHF) participated in the Kenya International Investment Conference 2026, marking a significant milestone for Kenya’s healthcare sector. For the first time in the conference’s history, a dedicated pharma-focused side event, “Advancing East Africa’s Health Security through Kenyan Manufacturing,” took center stage, underscoring the urgent need to strengthen local supply chains and build resilience in healthcare delivery.

A key highlight of the event was the launch of the Kenya Pharmaceutical Investment Pack, officiated by the Cabinet Secretary Hon Dr. Aden Duale, PS Ouma Oluga, PS Mary Muthoni, and John Mwendwa, CEO, InvestKenya. The development of the Pharmaceutical Investment Pack followed strategic engagements led by KHF with InvestKenya to position healthcare as a priority investment sector in Kenya. The pack was developed by IQVIA, a KHF member, with key contributions from KHF and other stakeholders.

Key thematic areas of discussion included:

  • Opportunities for localizing Health Products & Technologies (HPT) manufacturing
  • Global initiatives in HPT and Universal Health Coverage
  • Unlocking patient, affordable capital for local manufacturing and distribution

KHF continues to champion its members, whose contributions are raising the standards of healthcare excellence and strengthening Kenya’s position as a hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing in the region.
